Android / Google Play Store App Update:

Google recently began showing this message to users who have newer Android devices when they try to download the Founders Bible app from Google Play:

“This app isn’t available for your device because it was made for an older version of Android”

We’re aware of this issue. It is not the case that the version of the Founders Bible on Google Play will not work on your Android device. It’s simply that Google has asked developers to freshen their content on the Play Store. But Google didn’t consider that not all older apps have any reason to be updated. The Founders Bible app is mature and doesn’t require frequent updates.

There are no actual incompatibilities or security issues. If you want to install the app on a newer Android device, you can side-load it by following these instructions:

First, make sure you’ve enabled “third party apps”. How you do that depends on your device. On some devices, you go to Settings and look for Device (it may be in the More… menu). Look for Allow Installation of Applications and turn it on. On other devices, this option is under Applications in Settings. On some other devices this setting is under Personal, then Security, then Advanced. Select the option to enable Apps from Unknown Sources.

You may get a warning that this is unsafe. It is not unsafe in this case; you’re installing the same app that you previously installed from Google Play. You can select “OK” if you see this warning.

Once you’ve done that, just go to your Web browser and enter this URL:

Click Here to Download The Founders Bible

The Founders Bible app should automatically download. On some devices, you’ll be prompted to install the app automatically, but on others you may have to do one of the following:

  • You may have to tap the notification number next to your name in the upper left corner of the screen. You will then see a list of notifications. One of them should say something like com.laridian.foundersbible or foundersbible.apk and “download complete”. Select that one. You’ll be asked if you want to install Founders Bible and it will ask if you want to allow Founders Bible to use network communications and some other things. Choose the “install” button and when it’s done choose “open”.
  • After you download the file in your browser, tap on the menu icon in the top left corner. Choose the Downloads option and you should see FoundersBible.apk listed there. Tap on it and choose the install option to finish the process.
  • On newer devices we have found that you may not be able to just tap on the downloaded file after it is downloaded, but rather you need to go to the File Explorer (or your device’s equivalent thereof), locate your Downloads folder, then locate the downloaded FoundersBible.apk file and select it there to run it.

Once the app is installed you can launch it like any other program.
